Pesca Artesanal

Municipality: San Antero

Artisanal fishing is an ancestral practice that predominates on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of Colombia. Likewise, it is an activity that is considered as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation. In San Antero, these practices go back to the ancestors of the fishermen, who with their experience managed to understand or read the signs of nature for or against, such as the tides, currents or the phases of the moon. To optimize fishing activities, the ancestors handcrafted cast nets, trammel nets, rowboats, longlines and other fishing artifacts. Artificial reefs have recently been planted in the Gulf of Morrosquillo that allow the duration of fishing operations to be reduced.
