The name of the municipality comes from the first fishermen who built houses with palm roofs that ended with a mooring, very similar to a bow. From the coast, the boats that passed, managed to perceive a village of Moñitos.
Moñitos, located in the department of Córdoba, is recognized for its sea of crystal clear and calm waters, one of its main tourist sites is the Ecological Trail of the Rio Cedro corregimiento.
In this paradisiacal place, several events are held, such as the Folkloric Festival, the Sea Festival, the Panocha Festival, the Shrimp Festival and the Patilla Festival. Festivities that are set with the sounds of currulao, joint, cumbia and bullerengue.
