Edificio González

Municipality: Santa Cruz de Lorica

The González Building is an outstanding construction in Lorica that is characterized by its Republican-style architecture. It was built in 1929 by José Bravo and in its beginnings it was known as the Martínez building. Over time, it has experienced changes of owners and uses. In 2005, the Lorica municipal mayor's office acquired the González building and adapted it to house its administrative offices. This initiative made it possible to give the building a new purpose and preserve its historical and architectural value. The González Building stands out for its three facades, one of them facing the Sinú River, another facing the public market and the main one facing the Bolívar park. Each facade is built in masonry and offers a unique and different view of the environment. On the façade facing the public market, there is a tourist information point that provides guidance to visitors and tourists exploring the city of Lorica. The inclusion of the González Building in the declaration of heritage of the historic center of Lorica by the Ministry of Culture is a recognition of its historical and architectural value. This recognition emphasizes the importance of preserving and protecting the building as part of the city's cultural heritage. The González Building, in addition to being a testimony of the history and architecture of Lorica, plays an important role as the administrative headquarters of the municipal mayor's office. Its strategic location in the historic center makes it a point of reference for the inhabitants and visitors of the city. Visiting the González Building allows you to appreciate its imposing architecture and its connection with Lorica's past. In addition, it provides the opportunity to obtain tourist information and learn more about the cultural and heritage wealth of the city. The González Building is a symbol of Lorica's identity and legacy, and its inclusion in the declaration of historical heritage reaffirms the importance of valuing and preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
