Parque Museo de la Infantería de Marina

Municipality: Coveñas

Take a fascinating journey through the history of the Colombian Marine Corps in the stunning Marine Museum Park. Since its humble beginnings as the headquarters of the Colombian National Navy in 1974, this place has evolved to become a living witness of courage and sacrifice. As you walk through the halls of the museum, you will immerse yourself in an interactive and captivating experience. Divided into two wings, the Old Museum and the Modern Museum, each building tells a unique and essential story. The Old Museum tells the story of the Marine Corps in the 19th century, while the Modern Museum exhibits its renaissance from 1937. From the process of incorporating soldiers to the special flag rooms, the memory room and the room dedicated to fallen heroes in combat, every corner of the museum will take you on an exciting journey through the legacy of the Marine Corps. The main installation of the museum is an amazing replica of the Parthenon of Greece, an imposing symbol that houses an impressive collection of uniforms, weapons and muskets used by the marines throughout history. In addition, you can relive the Battle of Maracaibo Lake, led by Admiral José Prudencio Padilla, who played a fundamental role in the independence of Colombia. The recreation of this historic battle will transport you to a crucial moment in the history of the nation. Outside the museum, impressive military equipment awaits you, such as tanks, boats and war trucks, ready to be explored and photographed. In addition, you will find a model of the old "Packing House", an emblematic building that is part of the history of Coveñas and, unfortunately, had to be demolished due to its structural deterioration. With its certification by the Ministry of Culture and its recognition as one of the largest museums of its kind in Latin America, the Marine Infantry Museum Park offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the greatness of the history and military tradition of Colombia. It is a place where the past comes alive, honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the service and protection of the nation.
