Coveñas is a place full of sites rich in history and ideal to explore from start to finish.

The municipality was officially founded in 2002 and is part of the department of Sucre in Colombia.

The territory began its activity in the s. XVI with the name of Hacienda Santa Bárbara de Cobeña, a place that served as a point for slave traders. However, starting in 1919, the construction of industrial complexes began and in 1938 the establishment of the oil sector began to give another condition to the region, by building access roads and generating other economies in the area.

Likewise, in 1974 a headquarters of the National Navy of Colombia was built, which today functions as a Marine Infantry Training School.

During all these years it has been consolidating itself as a paradisiacal place that revolves around the economy of tourism and the promotion of traditional culture through gastronomy, emblematic sites such as La Coquerita beach, the Parque Museo de Infantería de Marina, the Villeros dam, the church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in addition to the Ciénaga de la Caimanera.

In addition, it has the magic of rhyming with the tone of the beach, the breeze and the sea that borders the municipality. It is a pleasant cocktail between the ancestral with the Zenú indigenous community, the coastal food with shrimp and the kindness of the people who inhabit the region.
